The bilge pump story is funny!

Our boat was in "great" condition according to the previous owner.
Yea right.  Actually, it wasn't bad but, the one thing that annoys the
heck out of me to this day is the master stateroom mattress.  It's a
very expensive custom made job and quite comfortable to sleep on.  The
only problem is the space for it is not an exact rectangle, as you
know.  The outside corner is cut off the bed to keep from banging into
it and the bulkheads are sloped towards the keel.  Unfortunately this
custom mattress was made as a mirror image of the pattern!  It's like
wearing a right-hand glove on the left hand!  New mattresses are very
expensive and this one is like new and "almost" fits, so I'm stuck.
