I am hesitant to add my 2 cents but I have recently found Shell Rotella T to be excellent. I did a bunch of research and learned that modern oils do not have the same lubricative qualities in them that older oil had and that the hot rod guys were having all kinds of problems with cam lobe wear and among other things in the past few years, several anyalists weighed in and stated that diesel oil is the only product that will still meet the requirements of older V8 engines. Seems oil refiners need to tailor the oil they distribute to the most up to date requirements of the car companies and regulators and while they provide better lubrication with lower emissions in brand new OHC, teflon coated, zircon encrusted engine components they are not compatible with old engines. I switched earlier this year and I may be a victim of the snake oil salesman but I swear the two engines (one boat, one car) are running better in fact my 318 has been running almost too good, no more clatter, valve train much happier and now purrs along at 36 - 3800 rpm with no fear of god mechanical sounds. Last season 3000 rpm sounded like it was about to fly apart.
