Not surprised by your findings, remember when they  install struts they are 
very liberal with 5200 or that other stuff can't  remember the name but 
it's real rubbery stretchy oh yeah it's called 3M  101.  They bed the struts to 
the hull and then bed the bolts into the  struts & hull.  It's kind of like 
insulation around everything.   What you need to do is verify continuity to 
the strut if your trying to make  sure it's bonded.  I don't think most 
people dig into it that far to make  sure.  However, I haven't run into 
problems with the Uniflite bronze struts  or bolts degragating over time.
