John Miller: I agree with Steve. If you keep having to add antifreeze, you have a leak. It could be in the heat exchanger (the 7-14 pounds of pressure forces the antifreeze into the raw water through the copper cooling tubes and then out through the exhaust), at the block-off between the exhaust manifold and elbow or within the block into the cylinders or oil pan. I'll bet every once in a while you get the "sweet" odor of antifreeze when you start the engine.
