It actually has an electric winch built into the cross beam between the two
arms. The davit setup supposed can lift up to around 750 lbs. That is well
more than I will ever need. Now I just need to get my port side engine
put back together. When I was installing the new electric fuel pumps for my
6-71's, I noticed I had a leak coming out of the muffler that was dripping
salt water onto my brand new alternator. Turned out to be a stress fracture
along a weld. No idea from what. Only cost $60 to get it welded back up
and have a gusset installed. Just have to get it back in. Then we will
head out for our first real weekend trip of the season.

Kerry,

Nice unit looks stout. How will you hoist your dink?

I thought I would come back full circle and let you all know where I landed.
I found a scream'n deal on a Roskelley/Olsson RS-1 that I found on
Craigslist this weekend. The guy had bought a 35' Bayliner and pulled it
off the boat. He was converting it into a full time fishing boat and had no
need (his words) for a dinghy or davit in the rear. I got it very cheap. I
dropped it off at Powder Coating Solutions in Tacoma to get blasted and
refinished and I will get it mounted on the swim step in a few weeks once I
get it back. It was in excellent shape, but since I had fresh gelcoat on
the boat, I wanted fresh powder coat on the davit to match. Here is a link
to the unit.

It looks pretty stout. It will easily haul my 9.5' Zodiac RIB with the 6hp
outboard and I won't have to tilt the dinghy on its side. Slowly getting
there......

I remember looking over my shoulder, and "commenting there is a jet

ski just like mine" floating about a half mile from me. The tow line

had parted, and nobody noticed. I turned the helm of the 38ft vessel

over to the owner, and asked her to aim for the lone target. I dove

in, started the ski, and we continued on the short cruise. I see

sailboats towing a dink, and I guess they make it around the world,

but behind a 20 knot or more powerboat it gets a little bouncy. My

35ft boat had davits on the back, but that obliterated the swim step

as mentioned previously. Take a look at this setup advertised in the

log, and see if it would work for you.

good luck.
