is the spicer a synchro tranny or big rig transmission, had a 9 speed in mine and I hated it as I could simply not get the hang of it, upshifting was fine but I never did get a hang of matching the rpm's down shifting so I switched to an Alison 6speed, LOVE it... bought a 40 passenger school bus with a cummins ISC 8.3 and pulled the Alison from it so I had all I needed to match it up to my older cummins 8.3, actually made money on the deal after selling the ISC.. I used to have problems with tire spin on launching ramps and ended up installing an air locker in the rear.. now that I have the Allison I've never needed it.. other than a few times in mexico on soft sand. By the way, I sold my Dodge 3500 and got a 2000 F750 with the Cat 3126B engine. Quite a bit more power, but the Spicer 7 spd manual transmission is an act of frustration. Haven't towed the boat with it yet, but have towed something of equal weight and there is such a difference.
