I use 4 different combination of colors and never seem to remember what they mean without referring to my cheat sheet.
I never refer to the cheat sheet because the chain is marked every 20 feet - so I just count them going out. If I need 120 feet out I count 6 markings and I'm good. I do remember one set of marks.
