Good information thanks. Let me walk through the list:
- Fuel filters were checked. Brand new a month ago and checked again
once I was in the slip. Look good.
- Fuel pumps are both mechanical and I just installed electric pumps over
the winter. Fuel pressure gauges look good.
- Governor adjustment...definitely could be...haven't checked that one
yet. Thanks for the thought.
- Sticky Rack...not sure, how do I diagnose?
- Water Contamination, could be but I don't think so. All three tanks
were treated this spring and all three tanks have fresh fuel in them. I
checked the fuel filters and didnt see any water.
- Improper stop setup, could be....not sure how to check
- Return Line Plugged, would this only happen at low RPM's dropping into
reverse or would this happen in other circumstances as well?
Couple of other thoughts.....
- Hitting the shutdown button, I have to hold it a LONG time. Seems
there is not enough juice to activate the relay complete that cuts off the
fuel supply.
- The starter BARELY turns over if at all. In order to that that engine
to fire back up I have to put the starter battery and house bank in line.
Just tried that for the first time when the engine died this week and it
worked. Odd part is that this problem is ONLY with the port engine and both
engines share the same starter battery.
It FEELS like I have a power issue, but testing the starter battery, etc, I
am getting plenty of CCA off the battery and plenty charge from the
alternators. I just cant put my finger on it but it is the only thing that
is keeping me from saying my boat is running like a top.
