I had a problem with my windlass, it's on my 1979 42dcmy. Ran the battery down
one weekend in a small cove and then when trying to pull up the anchor the
windlass started to smoke. The batteries are fully charged and the windlass
still over heated and started to smoke. So I have just had the thing rebuilt
and on its test run at the dock it started to become so hot on the end piece
that the fresh paint became soft and to hot to touch. The housing was warm not
hot, just the end cap...it ran great other than that but I'm wondering if that
is normal and I just never noticed it before or maybe I need to replace the two
solenoids ??
Anyone have an experience with these?
Thanks.
Monty
