Hi Bob,,
Thanks for,the reply.
Re-propping for me is like a jungle with traps easy to fall in! The producers
are SSUURREE. ! Me, not so. I have called for 3different opinions, 1st
MichWheel -. One from Australia and another from Singapore who receive their
tech answers from the UK.
If all respond with similar sizing I guess I'm in the ballpark!

How did you end up with your props ? We have different parameters as you have
higher reving diesels for the same 325hp. Also your weight will be a lot more
than mine . Have you tried filling in the MichWheel data sheet for prop
sizing. ? They are very good and there Is no obligation to buy ...at least if
you live outside the US of A.
If I was able to assist before its my pleasure !

Ross.

Subject: [UnifliteWorld] Re: Uniflite 38 aft cockpit.

Ross,
I have a 42' with twin cummins which develope 325HP at 3000rpm. This boat was
re propped by a former Uniflite guy at the Padden Creek Marine yard in 1990
when it was repowered. Since buying the boat in 1995 I had been told by 2
different prop experts ( the best 2 in Seattle I was told) that their computer
model said I had the wrong prop. I am told I have a 24"X 20 4 blade cut down to
22". All I can tell you is that I had a new set made, put on, and then taken
right off since my performance got significantly worse. I know this isn't much
help but I guess I am saying that not all experts are as expert as they claim.
I think it is good to do lots of research and pick your prop guy like you might
pick a brain surgeon. They all are not the same. Not sure what your choices
might be in Jakarta.
By the way Ross, you gave me great advice regarding a problem I was having with
my Cummins (dieseling) . I never fully thanked you for it..........

Hi,
2 subjects. Uniflite 38, Blister boat.
18 months ago I decided to bite the bullet, dry out the hull for 3 months on
the hard, strip off all damaged fibre glass below the waterline, grind out and
repair all blisters. Some were terrible! Then re-glass using polyvinyl ester
resin and 2 layers of roving.
This week, nervous, I docked .. and the result is beautiful... not a blister in
sight below the water-line. I am kicking myself I didn't do the hull
sides..where there are blisters. If anyone is interested in data I will be
happy to provide.
Propeller changes..
Am just about to fit new props. Does anybody have any pointers on this -- ..I
have 2 x 6/71 TIs rated 325HP at 2300rpm. I am told the distance between the
shaft center and hull is small therefore 4 blade props are best. Am being
proposed 24 diam 28pitch 4 blade nibral... Would welcome advice 0n 3 blade
versus 4 blade ? does anyone want to sell a pair in good condition?
