Aha.  That makes sense.   Back when these boats were built there weren't
nearly as many pumpout sites as there are now, so having two options for
on-land disposal would have been a good thing.  The thought of pumping your
holding tank contents up through the deck and through a hose to a bucket or
portable tank isn't too appealing, but  I get the idea.

I'll have to check my plumbing the next time I'm under the galley.  My
macerator is long gone but there's still a hose attached to the small
fitting on that deck plate.  I'll see if I can determine how it was plumbed
originally.  Regardless, that deck plate, and the 1-1/2" hose that connects
to it, is gonna have to get replaced one of these days.  It won't be a
pleasant task.
