I got mugged by two guys with guns within the first 2 months of moving to the hood. If I'd had a gun at the time, they'd have it now. They just stepped out behind me and put a gun to my head. Made me realize pretty quickly that carrying a gun doesn't necessarily make you safer.
The up side of my mugging is that immediately after taking my Be Kind To Animals wallet (out in front of Saads, which was a Wings To Go at the time) they went to the Sunoco at 46th and walnut and bought $70 worth of cigarettes. In about 20 years, I'll be having the last laugh while those a*****es are dying horribly of lung cancer.

Several years ago I chased down the crack head who had just stolen the
ratty Ikea door mat I had on my porch. Scared the guy so much he
apologized to me. If he'd had a gun, I would have just deflected the
bullets with my Wonder Woman bracelets.
