The really obnoxious thing about this is that a bicyclist is fined $50
to $115 for biking on the sidewalk and a motorist is only fined $35 for
parking in the bike lane. For your information, the Penn Police phone number is 215-573-3333. I recommend people call this number whenever you see a car parked in a bike lane, especially if it's a police car. If they want to inforce the biking laws, that's fine so long as they also enforce the driving laws. SO right now, while you're reading this email, pick up your cell phone and program in the police number. Then CALL when you find a violation. Maybe if we all (ie bicyclist and other concerned citizens) start making a fuss about the illegally parked cars, the police will work to also resolve the bike lane problem and thus resolve more of the dangerous situations presented to both cars and bikes.
