This became a good example of some of the roots of destructive discourse.
It's not so simple to say, "let's be civil" when this type of activity is on
going. I guess I should be used to it since I was the target of this type
of thing before I got involved with this list.
All of these nasty tricks that are used in these power plays are much
different when people are on the receiving end of these things. I don't
know what to say when the same people that watch this stuff criticize my
tone when I don't cower against the bullying. It's like when people are
chanting, "hell no we won't go," and all the good people jump up and down
about the protesters bad language.
There is a lot of rotten stuff in our district culture and I blame the UCD
process for causing it to flourish. This set-up shows the lengths that some
would go to try to silence dissent. It was no accident that my character
was attacked with this attempt.

besides all this, I think glenn was treated quite badly onlist last
evening, and it was chilling to witness the accusations, the speculations,
the pilings-on, the cheerings from the sidelines (and yes, the
silences) -- as well as the ease, the speed and the sheer malice of it
all.
people may want to excuse themselves by citing their inexperience with
online 'hi-tech stuff', but there's no excuse for this kind of behavior,
online or in person.
