To those who have been broken into recently (or attempted), please let Det.
Murray know (cell 267/718-4251). He worked with my block (4600 Osage) earlier
this summer on similar break-ins. The MO sounds the same - enter via open
windows (even up to the third floor), cut the screen, take what's around (cell
phones, digital cameras, etc.). Someone was arrested for for one of the
incidents but it was never clear if it was one person, different people or a
group. Det. Murray met with our block and asked that we tell him about any
other break-ins. He was very helpful and would want to know about the latest
incidents.

Hi Sarah,I hadn't had a chance to post about this yet, but wanted to let you
and everyone know that we had a similar experience this weekend. I live on
47th and Hazel too. On Saturday morning my husband and I noticed that 3 of our
first floor windows had the screens pushed up (a dining room window and the 2
front windows on the porch). When we went outside, we saw that some buckets
had been pushed under the dining room windows (which are high off the ground),
and there were two hand prints on the window. Whoever was trying to get in
apparently either wasn't too bright and/or motivated because it seems like all
they did was try to push the windows (which were all locked) open. There did
not appear to be any signs of an attempted forced entry. We have an alarm and
always keep the windows locked unless we're in the room, but we are also
planning to install a bright motion light in the alley in an attempt to
discourage anyone who might try this again. Other than that, we are not sure
what other measures could be taken to protect the house. I'm not sure if the
person who broke into your house a few weeks ago (sorry to hear about that, by
the way) is the same person as this time. This person, however, seems to be
looking for very easy access, so if your doors/windows are closed and locked,
you should probably be okay. ~Heather> Date: Mon, 8 Oct 2007 07:49:45 -0700>
