Yes, what Glenn is saying about this is absolutely true. A few weeks ago, a friend called me to vent. She owns a rental property on Cedar Avenue, and she received what she thought was a "bill" from UCD. The "bill" listed my friend's rental property address and her home address, and said that UCD was requesting a "voluntary contribution" of approximately $490!!! This was based on a calculation of 12.5% of the property taxes my friend paid on her two properties! Even though it kept stating "voluntary contribution", at a casual glance it looked just like a bill. UCD did this despite the fact that they have no legal authority to exact a tax. So they went ahead and started compiling property ownership and property tax information anyway. Yes, Penn/UCD apologist (you know who you are) I know that it's public information, but I still have a problem with them compiling information on people. What other kinds of information are they compiling on us???
