I just did a full re-install of Ubuntu. Not the route that I would have liked to go, but it was easier than wading through tons of forums to debug. Worked with fresh install. I hadn't gotten so involved with this Linux machine that I had enough to loose. Thanks for the help anyways! I'm sure I'll have more linux/slimserver questions soon.
