Read this just in time. I was dusting the Epia800, got a 1GB usb stick and tough of putting Gentoo on it to make it a slimserver.
Just be sure it does not write to that USB stick - or it will be dead by the end of the year. Flash media is very limited in the number of write cycles ("very limited" means << 100'000 - which is quickly reached if you store log files on it).
SlimCD can be installed such that everything is read only, but configuration files etc. are only saved to memory stick when you're shutting down the system.
Just a question: anyone tried running a this with LVM? Then you could just add HD's ad infinitum...
Nope, never done this. -- Michael ----------------------------------------------------------- Help translate SlimServer by using the StringEditor Plugin (http://www.herger.net/slim/) _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
