Firstly, my SB3 and slimserver are functioning correctly. Music is being served, I can browse by artist/album, etc. However, the performance of the web-server interface is decidedly clunky. Starting from the server 'Home' and clicking 'Browse Albums', it can take 4 or 5 seconds to populate the album list - I have '186 albums with 2634 songs by 269 artists'.
I have tried replacing the SQLlite database with MySQL, with only a small improvement. I have enabled query caching on MySQL and observed this working - the large query issued at the start of the 'Browse Albums' page takes 0.75 secs to execute, repeating the query took 0.0! secs, so the cache is hitting. I am running Suse 9.3 on a PII 450MHz processor with 256M RAM at run level 3, ie no graphics. Watching 'top', I can see slimserver.pl jump from 1% to 65-85% for a few seconds when the web page is fetched. Other than mysqld, no other processes get close. Using SlimServer Version: 6.2.2 - 7069 - Linux - EN - iso-8859-1, default 'skin'. If this is as good as it gets on my hardware, then so be it, I'll live with it or upgrade. But I wondered if anyone could compare this performance with their own setup and offer suggestions as to how I could improve matters? -- Des ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Des's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=3495 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=23595 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
