be careful using apt with knoppmyth, and assuming that .debs will work with knoppmyth. The builders fo knoppmyth choose and test a very specific combination of packages to make an easy HTPC using myth. For me, an updated Perl package and extracting the tar.gz of slimserver was all that was required. Look for more detailed setup instructions if you are unfamiliar with creating new users, etc in the wiki by doing a search for "debian". The debian startup3 works.
