Sorry, I was just redefining the problem more narrowly (turning
slim off/on).

Has there been a pattern to the suggestions?

I'm almost a full convert from Fedora, but nearly each distro
has strengths and weaknesses.

Good idea. I finally convinced the spouse to do the same at
home a year+ ago and we haven't looked back. Ironically,
perhaps the only application I've struggled with here is
slimserver - the deb-based packaging isn't as smooth as the rpm
packaging, imo (having used them both extensively). There
wasn't a deb package for a long time and, when it arrived, was
6.5-only...I had never had any problems with nightlies in the
<6.5 world, so it took me a few times of getting 'burned' to
realize that I had to be more deliberate with my upgrades.
6.5/7 is a big improvement, though, now.

Well, that's an Achilles Heel, frankly. I'm sure it'll get
fixed, but it's annoying to even know it's happening to someone
else.
