There is a big learning curve with Linux, but you will gain great power in using your system as you become more proficient.
And Gentoo, which can be hard to set up, is very flexible. The on-line documentation is also very good. The Gentoo Handbook http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/handbook/index.xml is a great source of information and it's available in multiple languages, even French! :-) Please read the sections of the Handbook about Portage, the Gentoo package management system. This is a feature that is specific to Gentoo, and it's very important to understand this when you do package installations and upgrades. Also read the Hanbook section about init scripts. This is another feature that is a bit different in Gentoo. Please reset your SlimServer language back to French; you are using it, not I. And your English is way better than my French!
