Dear Pat, Maybe a little background will help you make sense of my madness ;) I currently have a minimally functioning (I wrestled with trying to install flash player for 45 min. before I got it to work.) Debian Sarge install on a 160g internal hard drive. I would fill this up pretty quickly.
Well, frankly, I am minimally functional in Linux... I LOVE the idea of being a Linux user, but even having an electronics degree hasn't saved me from being a perpetual computer victim. I understand how computers and OSs work from a big picture standpoint; I just have always struggled to get them to do what I want. Anyway, I wanted to use a USB drive for low cost, high capacity and, hopefully, ease of use. Eventually I see myself with a multi- TB NAS solution as I have a 1200 LP collection that I would like to archive in full rez. (Yes, the sound of my records and phono front end warrant that.) USB 2.0 will have plenty of speed since I will only be streaming to one SB3. Well thanks for listening (figuratively) to my story, Buelligan -- buelligan ------------------------------------------------------------------------ buelligan's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9019 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=32886 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
