They all work these days. Those new WD 500GB drives at
BB, CC, etc., for $169 are pretty nice.
Lessons I've learned:
- Format it using ext2/3 instead of FAT32 or NTFS. It's
faster, safer, and will save you from having to reformat
the FAT32 drive again when it crashes eventually.
- Unless you buy an all-in-one case/drive combo (see option
above), it's kinda' fun to shop for the biggest drive and
case combo you can find. Places like newegg, dealsonic, and
ebay give you a LOT of options for drive cases. Look for ones
with some shock features AND fans - why cook your drive?
I think that's about it. With Ubuntu 6.10, it's fairly straight
forward.
