Are you going to store your collection inside the VM (on virtual disks) or will you mount an external drive/share to the VM? I'm currently tending towards CentOS for lean, but still _universal_ Linux distros. It's not bleeding edge, but stable. FreeNAS/SlimNAS might soon be an option (I'm currently working on mplayer to allow running AlienBBC on it). But currently it probably is too memory hungry as it can't swap yet. This should be possible with the latest developpers release, but is not stable, yet. > I thought of a hard install of slimcd, however this does nto seem to be > upgradeable and alienbbc does not work at present. It is upgradable, but IMHO not a server distro. And I know about AlienBBC... I hoped to have it fixed earlier, but am still experiencing problems with mplayer :-(. > install damn small linux and add alienbbc myself? This would be even harder to install/upgrade than SlimCD: you'd have to add perl yourself as well as MySQL, mplayer etc. -- Michael ----------------------------------------------------------------- http://www.herger.net/SlimCD - your SlimServer on a CD http://www.herger.net/slim - AlbumReview, Biography, MusicInfoSCR _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
