Hi Pat, etc/fstab is where I looked first - but it didn't have any lines in it at all referring to the external drive mounts (/dev/sda1 & /dev/sda5) - it was only about 4 lines long, and only called out the internal drive partitions (hda1 & hda5, I think they were), which is what sent me looking for something else. The Ubuntu (Dapper Drake) automatically mounted the external drive (and both partitions, one NTFS, one FAT32) on start-up for me, so maybe Ubuntu has a slightly different setup than other Linux systems? Obviously I don't have a clue - I'm learning to swim in the deep end! -- nicketynick Wireless SB3, Denon DRA-F101, Mission M31 loudspeakers WinXP SP2 Slimserver, SMC WBR14g router http://www.last.fm/user/nicketynick/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ nicketynick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1511 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34339 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
