Here's what happened: SS had been running fine for about a week, no problems. Wife went to power up a SB last night, and SS crashed. There was some sort of error message in the top part of the right pane of SS, but I couldn't read it all. So I figured a restart was the best idea. While it was shutting down, a warning pop-up came up, but all it had for text was little boxes. I hit the button that would have been OK, and waited for the restart. There were some errors in shut-down process - went by to quick to get them, and here's what I got at restart:
Grub loading... Error 18 And the drive making funny seeking sounds. Sound like hardware or software failure? Unfortunately I don't have a Ubuntu CD handy (I'm going to have to burn one from another machine), but I do have an old version of SlimCD I think I'll throw in to see if the machine will run. Anybody of any advice to help me out here? Thanks, Nick ps - more & more I hope Logitech/SD decide to develop a SS-in-a-box you plug an external drive into - I'm not having any luck with my own hardware! -- nicketynick Wireless SB3, Denon DRA-F101, Mission M31 loudspeakers WinXP SP2 Slimserver, SMC WBR14g router http://www.last.fm/user/nicketynick/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------ nicketynick's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1511 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34513 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
