I booted up into single-user mode ok, but when trying to change the password at command the message: changing password for user root appears, then I get the error:
passwd: Authentication token manipulation error. I believe the above problem may be that following advice on the CC boards; I logged in with WinSCP and edited the password field within /etc/shadow (and shadow-): root::xxxx:0:password:x:::: I removed the second column ‘password’. Is there a way back from here or is the re-install favourite again?
