I'm using a recent nightly on Ubuntu 7.04 with Sun Java 6 installed from
the deb package.

Softsqueeze froze while playing, and I needed to reboot. It would not
then start; but the Softsqueeze java applet would open. However,
that, too, froze after a time.

Now Softsqueeze will not open at all; and the java applet pop-up
screen opens, but remains plain gray.

I've cleared the Firefox cache; and did a Synaptic 'reinstallation' of
sun-java-6. But Softsqueeze will still not start up either freestanding
or as the applet. Is it possible to 'uninstall' these items and
reinstall them (and how would you do that)?

I'd be grateful for any suggestions for fixing this (I'd dearly love to
avoid reinstalling SS if possible).

TIA
