I guess there is no best Linux distribution for Squeezecenter, since there are many that can be used and it depends most on what you are trying to accomplish and how much time you want to invest doing it.
I prefer the headless server for my main Squeezecenter, and for this I go with Debian, you can add quite easily the packages repositories of Squeezecenter, and Debian is rock-solid stable. I use MEPIS (another Debian-based distro) on my Laptop and have installed Squeezecenter there too for testing purposes without problem, using the Debian packages. If you want a server with a GUI, Ubuntu would be a good choice since you can find help quite easily (many people use it). If you want a headless server, Clarkconnect sounds like a good option since it has many Web based administration tools installed by default, so you get up and running quicker. -- pichonCalavera *rip* (eac) > *convert* (flac) > *tag* (musicbrainz/mp3tag) > *normalize* (replaygain/foobar2000) > *albumart* (www) > *transport* (winscp) > *store* (debian) > *rescan* (squeezecenter) > *play* (squeezebox) > *mix* (musicip) > *listen* (sennheiser) > *scrooble* (last.fm) > *enjoy* (me :) ------------------------------------------------------------------------ pichonCalavera's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13068 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43146 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
