The problem has finally been resolved. Here is a copy of the text I sent to tech support: ------------------------ OK, the problem seems to be fixed now. I ended up pointing the Squeezeserver music folder setting to subdirectories one at a time to see if it would scan that directory correctly. (With well in excess of 2,000 directories this took a while. It had to scan the directory, and then I had to manually set it to the next directory and start over.) After several hours I finally located a Boz Scaggs subdirectory that had a circular soft-link reference back to itself in with the music files. When I removed that the scanning problem disappeared.
The mystery to me is why Slimserver 6.5.4 and earlier versions did not have a problem with scanning the same music folder. Rhythmbox also did not exhibit any problems as the local music player on that Linux PC. I would also note the logs were of no help in identifying the problem. In short, it was the lack of any problem with other/earlier versions software that made the problem in Squeezecenter so difficult to track down. If I could make one suggestion it would be to improve the error reporting capability of the software so that issues such as this could be located with less hassle. Thanks for your help on this matter. ---------------------------- -- mlsstl ------------------------------------------------------------------------ mlsstl's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9598 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=43815 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
