I'm also running a Ubuntu server. There's a conflict with apparmour/sc7/mysql which causes upgrades to fail, every time. I think it's the mysql profile and the sc7 profile banging into each other. The only solution I've found is a reboot, which fixes it. I'm sure there's a way to avoid the reboot, but I have yet to find it (apparmour is a mystery to me). I've mentioned it here a few times but I've been kinda alone until now :)
