I have found that under Ubuntu Hardy the Apparmor "protection" is re-enabled after the upgrade of Squeezecenter and needs to be stopped again before SC will run. I'm sure there is a way to do this elegantly but I just do '/etc/init.d/apparmor stop' after I have run the squeezecenter install routine and then once again do '/etc/init.d/squeezecenter restart'. After that it runs just fine.
