I agree that the shell (proper name for command line) can scare folks
off, but modern distros don't need it for much, if anything.
There are GUIs for nearly everything needed for a SqueezeCenter and
samba setup.

I generally don't even talk about the shell for most folks.
At least not for the first couple of months.
