I've been using SID since before woody became stable. It has seldom
given me a problem. Yes, new perl versions sometimes break things but
reverting to previous versions is not all that difficult.

regarding the race condition I can add the following. using apt-get
install --reinstall squeezecenter without a purge works! This seems
strange to me

/etc/init.d/squeezecnter stop
/etc/init.d squuezecenter start

does not work. Looking in ps ax after stop does not show any
squeezecenters running. What is going on in the postinstall scripts
that allows squeezecener to run?
