I recently updated my 8.10 desktop. After updating, it requested for a
reboot, which I did. While rebooting, an error comes up:

Error 24: Attempt to access block outside partition
Press any key to continue...

After pressing a key, a whole bunch of entries are posted:

Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-11-generic
Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.26-11-generic (recovery mode)
Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-9-generic
Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.26-9-generic (recovery mode)
Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.27-7-generic
Ubuntu 8.10, kernel 2.6.26-7-generic (recovery mode)
Ubuntu 8.10, memtest86+

The first two don't work. The third one does and selecting it makes the
boot continue normally. I also have the option of editing the commands
before booting and command-line.

What happened?? More importantly, how do I correct it??

I'm a Ubuntu (and Linux) newbie so please bear with me. I've tried
posting at the Ubuntu forums but haven't gotten any responses.

Help!!!
