Your issue has nothing to do with squeezecenter. Chances are, the problem is that (a) your file system is corrupted or (b) there's a problem with your grub config file. For the former, boot up from a live-cd and run fsck. For the latter, try posting the contents of your /boot/grub/menu.lst file - it may offer some clues. Seems like you're best off posting to the appropriate ubuntu forum, but perhaps someone here may have some ideas.
