I have just purchased a barebones server unit with the intention of running Squeezecenter on it as the primary use, in addition to serving videos to a Popcorn Hour media player and keeping a photography library to be accessed from PCs.
Having looked at Widows Home Server, I think I will give it a pass, as there seem to be many interesting Linux options. the question however is which one? Which of the Linux OSs would provide best perfomance (file read/write speed and general stability) while being relatively easy to install Squeezeserver and maintain the thing. I know virtually nothing about Linux and with little free time, I cant really get too deep into anything, so the easier the solution, the better. >From the research I had done, Ubuntu Server 8.04 seemed like a good one. But are there better options out there, whether Ubuntu 9.04 or other Linux distros? Thanks in advance for the input... -- Osamede ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Osamede's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=11753 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63761 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
