I think epoch1970 was suggesting that there advantages to running the server version on a server.
Go with the server version If youve got an ubuntu-aware buddy to help you through any problems, or if you have enough spare time and determination to cope with any false starts. The server version *is* more suitable for this task. But if you are doing this alone and want an easier ride I suggest you start with the desktop version, because it can be more forgiving.
