I absolutely agree with the buddy recommendation. I think there are some differences between the Desktop and Server versions of ubuntu apart the GUI; I refer to the dreaded network manager for example, great for a laptop but really abusive on a server. I find myself installing Webmin (a web GUI) on machines I do not administer myself. A powerful package which will have modules for most of the software packages you'll install on the machine.
IMO Debian Lenny is a very fine OS; I have a few installations already and am planning migrating servers to lenny. But, I think the debian community just dropped the ball on the documentation of the OS. The official guides are still highly valuable, but for individual packages I think users guidance is pretty bad. -- epoch1970 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ epoch1970's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=16711 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=63761 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
