Regarding the OS running in RAM - what will happen when you load up
SqueezeCenter?  It isn't exactly lightweight with it's reliance on Perl
and MySQL.  I'm not sure if you will see much of a difference (if any)
between running Puppy or running Ubuntu Server or OpenSuSE without the
desktop installed (strictly text based UI).

I run OpenSuSE with now desktop UI on a PC booting from a USB memory
stick.  SC is up and running in ~30 seconds when it boots.
