Thanks for the comments. The laptop has a 30gig HD in it right now. My music collection is at 350 or so gbs. I'd rather not buy a hard drive for the laptop (I know a 500gb hd is probably like 50-100 bucks, not that much) because of the expandability issue. I started with 200 gb hd with a 200 back up and then later expanded and added 2 250gb hds. The 200's died, etc, etc. I think with USB allows you to incrementally increase your storage space w/o having to crack open your computer everytime to add more.
