It should be possible to use an external USB drive to contain the music library with a VortexBox system.
Here's how I would do it: 1. Store the music library on the external drive under the music/flac directory to conform to the VortexBox standard. 2. Mount the USB drive at /storage on the VortexBox, so that the music library appears at /storage/music/flac to SqueezeBox Server. The VortexBox FLAC mirror code also looks for the music library here. 3. Put an entry in /etc/fstab to have the drive automounted at boot time. 4. Look into repartitioning the internal hard drive and/or redoing the logical volume management to reclaim the space set aside for /storage on the hard drive. On a standard install, /storage gets most of the hard drive and the root logical volume gets much less. (On my 2 TB hard drive, it's 1.8 TB for /storage, 20 GB for /). Maybe this can be done during the initial install of VortexBox from the iso image. I think this should work. Testing should be done to ensure that the USB backup software on VortexBox still works with this configuration. Some enhancements may be needed to make sure it works when two USB drives are plugged in -- one for the music library, and one for the backup. -- Ron Olsen ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Ron Olsen's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9233 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=76818 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
