Big caveat here - I'm no expert on WOL, but how much impact does the OS
have and how much is a) the BIOS of the hardware or b) the available
driver options for your ethernet/wireless adapter? I would guess you
need to look at all three for max improvement.  For example, my
Broadcom ethernet driver has options to set the WOL speed to "10 Mb
Full, 10 Mb Half, 100 Mb Full, 100 Mb Half, or Auto".

To answer your question, I use the vortexbox software which is based on
Fedora and designed to run as a Squeezebox Server.  Connected via
ethernet and Realtek PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet. WOL from suspend
(using the server power control plugin) is 10-12 seconds.
