SBS is mysteriously unable to read the directories containing my music.
It has been working fine for months. I don't know if the breakage is
related to upgrading from squeezecenter to SBS or not.
When I configure Local Music Directory via the web interface's
graphical file browser, there are some directories I can browse and
others I can't. There seems to be no pattern to what is and isn't
browsable.
My music is in /Users/share/Music. SBS can descend into that directory
but cannot see any of the directories within.
I've tried just manually typing in the path to the music into the
configuration page, but that didn't work either.
More mysteriously, if I su to the squeezeboxserver user, I have no
trouble browsing the music directories and files:
Code:
--------------------
z...@hoth:~ (0) $ sudo su - squeezeboxserver
squeezeboxser...@hoth:~$ cd /Users/share/Music
squeezeboxser...@hoth:/Users/share/Music$ ls
...
U2
Various Artists
Warren G
...
squeezeboxser...@hoth:/Users/share/Music$ ls "Warren G/G Funk Era - Special
Edition [Explicit]"/
01 - Regulate (Album Version (Explicit)).mp3
squeezeboxser...@hoth:/Users/share/Music$ file "Warren G/G Funk Era - Special
Edition
[Explicit]/01 - Regulate (Album Version (Explicit)).mp3"
Warren G/G Funk Era - Special Edition [Explicit]/01 - Regulate (Album Version
(Explicit)).mp3:
Audio file with ID3 version 23.0 tag, MP3 encoding
--------------------
Just as an experiment, I browsed /etc using the web GUI Most /etc is
world readable. Some directories could be traversed, and others
couldn't, all of which were root:root & 0755.
Has anyone experienced this behavior?
Is there any way to get some debug logging to find out why SBS
won't/can't open certain files & directories?
I am running Squeezebox Server 7.5.1 from the debian.slimdevices.com
stable repository
on Ubuntu 8.04.
Thanks
Zach
