I've tried those commands and here's what I get back. With "ps aux|grep
squeeze":

For "netstat -lnp|grep 9000", I got the following:
> (Not all processes could be identified, non-owned process info
> will not be shown, you would have to be root to see it all.)

On getting that response I entered the same command, with "sudo" ahead
of it (thinking it might have been a permissions issue), but was simply
returned to the prompt.

I'm not sure what the implications are of each of these results, so any
help in interpreting them and the best course of action would be
gratefully received!

I've also tried running an apt-get to update, but I still get a message
"Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:9000."
