I've been running 7.5.1 under Mandriva 2010.x The symptom of nothing happening when you install the rpm is normal. It had me confused for a while. What you should have now is a squeezeboxserver service. Have a look at services under the system tab in the mandriva control center. If it's running type localhost:9000 into a browser to get to the GUI.
I initially had problems with some perl errors which I fixed by installing the perl-cgi package from the mandriva repositories. You'll also need mysql installed if it's not already.
