Reasons I've been shying away from ext4 (and these are not well researched and I may be completely wrong):
1). ext3 is backwards compatible with ext2. You can mount a ext3 drive as ext2 with no issues. The SBTouch will happily mount and use a ext2 fs drive and therefore a ext3 drive is appropriate both for a SBS server and a SBTouch. I'm not sure if the SBTouch can deal with ext4. This kind of swapability isn't necessary, of course...just potentially handy. 2). I want the audio drive to spin down when not in use. I haven't looked into how to mount a ext4 drive so that it stays spun-down. All that said, my / mount point on my server is ext4. -- gharris999 ------------------------------------------------------------------------ gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87340 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
