I give up. I think I'm going to backup my system and then reinstall the OS from scratch.
I decided to try installing a beta version of Logitec mediaserver, and I still have the same issue. The server seems to be running but I can not get any response from it either from my web browser or from my Squeezeboxes. What is more worrying is that my MythTV has the same issue, so I think I must have some fundamental problem with my system.
