Hum - I was wondering if people would do sync and crossfade...  The
problem here is that it will definitely show up the differences between
the implementations.  I'm not sure its every going to be perfect without
completely copying the way squeezeplay works...

Re buffer settings
-b 2048:3445 is close to what the defaults are (each value is multiplied
by 1024 to get the number of bytes and then rounded)

This makes the output buffer 10 seconds worth, but with crossfade it's
effectively reduced to 90% of this, so try with the second value set to
3827 or more, e.g. -b2048:3900

The larger values you were using will definitely make the memory
footprint grow!  You should only need to change a bit as above.
